I trudged through a lot of snow to get this shot, and while I was trudging my way back, I got to thinking. Why did I let myself go through all of that trouble for a picture, (mind you I’m fasting right now & have very little energy lol), when I could have waited for the snow to melt a bit and gone out later?
As I stopped for a breather, I looked around, as everything was white, untouched, and clean.
How much time do we spend trying to erase our mistakes? How often do we put so much effort into becoming a better version of ourselves? We try so hard to do everything on our own. We carry this burden that says we have to work harder and do more in order to feel appreciated. In order to feel loved.
“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”Psalm 51:7
God Word says that He will make us new. He will make us whiter than the snow I was walking in today. Though the snow may look really white to our eyes, it is not even close to being as clean as our Creator can make our hearts. He doesn’t say white as snow, He says whiter than snow.
The truth is, we don’t have to go through all the trouble of bettering ourselves. He does it for us. All we have to do is say, “I’m all Yours God. I’m done doing things my way. I’m done trying to make myself righteous. Forgive me for thinking so highly of myself. Forgive me for thinking I have it all under control. Forgive me for not being pure. Forgive me for not being the person You designed me to be. Forgive me for not being the best son, the best daughter…the best friend that I could be. Forgive me, Lord.” And with a heart containing so much brokenness, so much uncleanliness, He takes it as a sacrifice. You give Him a broken heart, and in return, He gives you a fresh start. A second chance. A new beginning. He gives you new life! A life that says you no longer have to fear this world because you are going to live with Me, FOREVER!
“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”Psalm 51:17
He takes delight in our hearts. Not in the words we say, or the things we do. There is nothing you could do to make Him love you less. He has always loved you. And He will never stop loving you. It is now up to you to get to know Him better in prayer, in worship, and in reading His Word. Follow Him in obedience. His Word says to love, to speak truth..to live a life of righteousness. Righteousness is a pureness only found in Jesus.
So no matter how much you hate the snow, I hope the next snowfall is a reminder to you that you have been made NEW. And you are loved, dearly. Let it remind you that He gives you endless opportunities to be renewed and made clean! May you find boldness in that truth.
