Day 10: Genesis 25-26

Now that Abraham, the father of nations, has passed away, God now had to fulfill His covenant through Abraham’s first born son, Isaac. Isaac and Rebekah got married and it was 20 years of marriage before she became pregnant with twins — Jacob and Esau. By the grace and FAVOR of God, Jacob received the birthright from Esau. (This meant that he would now get the larger part of the family inheritance and the headship of the family).

I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be BLESSED, because Abraham OBEYED me and did everything I required of him, keeping my commands, my decrees and my instructions.”

Genesis 26:4,5

Isaac’s role within the covenant the Lord made with Abraham was to keep Abraham’s fivefold obedience by obeying the following:

  1. God’s voice
  2. God’s charge
  3. God’s commands
  4. God’s decrees
  5. and God’s instructions.

I pray that my family, for generations to come, is known as obedient ones.

What do you want your family to be known for? …Your children and your children’s children?
